Produce and Fruit Seasonality Chart

Want to know what's in season? Check out this website hosted by CUESTA in conjunction with the Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market in San Francisco.

Cook's Thesaurus

Written single-handedly by a wonderful lady, this website is an encyclopedia of most food ingredients. It shows you pictures of each kind of ingredient, and provide suggestions to substitute the ingredient if you don't have any at hand. A good way to get to know a lot of interesting ingredients. I recommend their spices and lettuce sections.

All Recipes

A user submission based recipe conglomerate, these recipes are very useful and very well suited for the Hammarskjold kitchen. You probably won't find that many hard to find exotic ingredients that you find at other professional recipe sources (Like the Chez Panisse Cook Book Oh Boy). Try the top rated recipes to gaurantee higher first-time success rate. One thing to note though. DO NOT trust their quantity multiplier. Things might seem awefully wrong, for example, telling you to use 20 cups of cream cheese.

General information about protein, cooking for vegetarians, tofu.

Hub of information about making vegan/vegetarian cooking easy, information about meat/egg/dairy replacements.

Protein content of selected vegan and vegetarian foods.

For vegan recipes, try vegweb, vegan chef, and chooseveg.

Dinner Menu Guidelines

A collection of guidelines for designing a dinner menu, including some random ones about not serving different foods of the same color together (for example, "don't serve green vegetables with green noodles and pesto sauce).

The French ladies really know about culinary pleasures. If you lack culinary inspiration, check out the blog by the wonderful Beatrice, a French lady living in Boston. Her dishes plus her amazing photography skills are really fresh, colorful, and just plain pleasing to look at.
