(Epicurious says that the name ropa vieja, or "old clothes", describes the shreds of meat, peppers, and onions resembling a mess of colorful rags) hehe :)
Lenny:
Meat request: 9 lbs flank steak, trimmed
Other dry goods requests:
9 tbsp. tomato paste
3 14- to 16-ounce cans of whole tomatoes (with juice)
Lauren:
Produce requests:
18 Bell peppers (recipe calls for mix of red, yellow, and green, but one color--yellow-- is fine)
6 Carrots
3 White Onions
3 Red Onions
18-24 Garlic cloves
Optional: 6 Celery ribs (we'll use it if there's some lying around, or if you can get a cheap small amount, otherwise don't worry about it)
